Teacher resources coming soon!
Update 5/30/15: Working on this page and hopefully it will be running soon. Had a little "life" happen to interrupt things though. Meanwhile, here's a Introduction to Waves PowerPoint (mostly for my sub but for others if useful.) More to come!
A little commentary while you wait:
In the past 5 years I've switched subjects and taught Earth Science, Physical Science, and Life Science. The year before that, during my student teaching, I taught 4 subjects: Life Science, Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Environment Science. 6 subjects in 6 years! On top of working with approximately 140 students each of those years. (140 individuals with individual needs and individual experiences and individual problems. 140 pre-teen and teenagers!) On top of this, I have a two toddler boys at home keeping me on my toes. It's been busy!
I love it. I love my students and I love my job. It's awesome! But I wouldn't have made it this far without the numerous teachers who have helped me. I'm especially grateful to the teachers who take the time to share their hard work via the internet so that I can use it. As a busy teacher who maintains a website to aid students and parents, I get that this is an extra task that you didn't have to do! And for FREE! Such a blessing! THANK YOU!
On that note, my website has been increasing in popularity. Mostly because my students are constantly being reminded to use my website to help them succeed. (So they produce a HUGE traffic source each week, especially weeks with computer based assignments.) But I've also noticed a variety of traffic from sources outside of my students. From numerous countries which means it's not my students. (I typically know where they're going and when.)
With that in mind, I realized that my website had some cool stuff on it but was missing an important aspect: helping my fellow teachers. I became and educator because I love children and I love seeing them learn. More than that, I love seeing them succeed. Not just in science but in life. Any time a kid is successful in anything, it makes me happy. Especially when that success shapes a brighter future for them. I know that's why you're teaching, too. So, I want to help you and help your students.
Anyway, if you've read all this, I'm impressed. My plan: share everything I can share (respecting original owners and copy rite) from all the lessons I have. Why the wait? Well, as mentioned, I've done a lot of switching the past 5 years. A LOT of my stuff is in dropbox/google drive files. In a semi-organized nature. Dropbox wasn't big enough for my needs so I've been transitioning to google drive. Before I link documents here, I need to get them organized. My goal is to have this page up and running (completed) by the end of the school year. Meanwhile, visit my "Life Science" and "Physical Science" pages for some details on my graded assignments and the "Cool Links" tab (which also needs a little cleaning up...)
Also to get you started, here are some of my favorite science websites. Lots of what I do has come from or been adapted from these sources:
There are more! They'll be added later as I go through what to link here. But these are the two that jump to mind!
